EXTRAORDINARY .SCENE AT NAPIER, (United Piiess Association.) NAPIER,. April 8. There was on extraordinary scene m Emerson-strcet oil Saturday night In response to an iinnouncement that a woman alleged to be under hypnotic influence would be awakened at 10 o clock from a 72 hours' sleep, a huge crowd collected, and early in the proceeding:! denounced the hypnotist, who declared that he had studied the science for seven or eight years. ... - The crowd then took, charge of the principals, who were 111 a shop, and they had to seek refuge in an adjacent shop. Buckets of water were thrown on the dcnscly-packod orowcl from tlio. buildings. and the response was a sho.wer ot stones, whoch brok-e some windows.^ The crowd hung 011 till after midnight, when the refugees were smuggled away in motors.
