POLITICAL.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —If you and your readers are not already tired of the political correspondence, I would like to point out, with reference to the concluding portion of "Open-mindedV' letter in your issue of the 6th, that there was nothing in the coniinunicuL i. >i i'mm me he quotes therein that could, Lv any method of reasoning, be twisted into an admission by me of consistency on the part of Air Atmore. "Open-minded," like all his class, may be clever at "dragging a red herring across the trail"; but no one who has followed the correspondence can have failed to have noticed that "Openminded" evades the main issue. As it seems to be admitted by Mr Atmore's Committeeman-in-Chief, Mr Lock, that "Open-minded"' may be regarded as a worthy champion of Mr Atmore's cause, I now repeat my question in a slightly amended form, and ask "OpenmindeU" (if that, whilst Mr Atmore loudly pr i'-'aimed his absolute '-indev.. was he at the same time aware that friends. supporters, and committeemen, when canvassing for support on behalf of their chief, made regular use of the argument that if any elector wished to have an end put to the Ward Government, he oxshe should "vote for Atmore ' ? I should like to have a plain answer to this question, free from any further, subterfuge, evasion, or personalitus. J.B.
