STARTLING TACTICS. OUTRAGE AT A POST OFFICE. (Press Association. —Copyright.} LONDON, Yesterday. The newspapers discussing the suffrage raid suggest that the conspiracy law enables the recovery of damages from the funds of the organisation directing the raid, equally with the chattels of the individu a t ra id e rs. A suffragette was arrested on Sunday night for dropping on the floor of the | telegraphic department of the General Post Office. Roman Bath-street, London, a basket containing blazing shavings saturated with paraffin. It is understood this was the prelude of an organised series of outrages in post offices. DRAPERS' SHOPS RAIDED. (Received March 4, 8.25 a.m.) LONDON, Monday. Thirty suffragettes were arrested for raiding the principal drapers' shops in the West End. Many windows were smashed. GAOL WINDOWS SMASHED. (Received March 4, 8.25 a.m.) LONDON, Monday. Suffragettes smashed the cell windows at Holloway Gaol, waved handkerchiefs, and sang the Marseillaise. Six thousand constables are in readiness for to-night's demonstration in Parliament Square. WHOLESALE WINDOW-SMASHING. THE POLICE POWERLESS. I MUSEUMS CLOSED. (Received March 4, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, Monday. Fifty suffragettes, arriving in cabs and taxi-cabs, and armed with hammers and stones, which they concealed in their stockings, raided Knightsbridge, Kensington, and High-street, and smashed windows in Harrod's, Barker's, and other stores. Troops from the Knightsbridge Barracks assisted in arresting them later. Windows in Lord Loreburn's, Lord Crewe's, and Mr J. A. Pease's residences, and in the House of Lords were smashed. The police, mounted and on foot, were powerless, owing to the widespread attacks. ' The authorities closed the British and other Museums.
