STOKE PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the Stoke Progressive Association was held ca Monday evening, when there was a fair attendance of members, Mr W. B. Cor.dell being in the chair. The Committee reported on various matters that had been attended to since the last, meeting. . It was decided to make application to tli© Chief Postmaster to have a mail despatched from Stoke bv the 7.30 p.m. train on the evening that a tram leaves at tiat time. It was resolved to ask tne Jtai'way Department to have one or two small improvements made at the railway station. , , , « , Resolved, that steps be taken to endeavour to obtain a Public Cemetery for the district. , A.«T Mondav is found, bv some of th~ members, to" be an inconvenient meeting night. it was decided that m future the mSSings should be held on the first, priday in each month.

Wellington, have received the following tabled advice from their London house, dated 26th lilt., as follows:—The list of arrivals for the March series of wool sales has closed. The new arrivals amount to 406,0C0 bales. Of this total 228.000 bales have been forwarded direct to manufacturers at Home and abroad. The old stocks amount to 14,000 bales, leaving avail able tor sale 192,000 baits. Messrs E. Buxton arid Co., Ltd., ad vise having received the following advice by cable this morning from their London agents. Messrs .Sanderson, Murray and Co., with reference to the secontJ series of London wool sales - "Second series of wool sales postponed indefinitely, owing to coal strike."
