PROCEEDINGS AT REEFTON. (United Press Association.) REEFTON, Friday. The Mining Commission sat here today, -j i)r. E. H. Scott gave evidence as to the effects of peumo conosis in Reefton. For prevention he suggested that bath and changing houses he erected; and as miners' pthisis. is generally superimposed on tubercular disease great bodily care-is necessary not only during the eight hours' -work but in sixteen nours off work. Dr. Conlon gave details of the mortality from puemo ccnosis in R-efton in 12£ years. In 71 deaths of men only three-died from pulmonary and' gibrosis tubercular diseases. He advocated better ventilation, bath houses and change houses, also the disinfecting cf water used, and spraving. R. .Crowley, "President tf the Reef ton Engine-drivers' Union, objected to the new code of signals lately issued by the Mines Department. The Chairman of the Commission said it was a serious matter if the signals were not understood by these who worked them. The Comanissidn closes to-n:gnt and goes to Greymouth to-morrow.
