Over three montlhs ago, the Mellboume "Leader" says, some 'buttei' was .placed in a patent' lined' butter box an the Government cool stores, Melbourne, for 'the pavnpose of testing the patent. The ! box \va.s made of Oregon pine, -which has a strong resinous odour. The butter, lenielosed in a paraffined ip-aipcr oiuvefcipe, was then pkced ia the box. The closliivg of the box made the lining' airtight. In t'he pre.senee of Mr. Grahami, Minister of Agriculture, the box was opened. The butter was found to bo sweat and <untainted. Mr. P. Crowe, superintendternb of exports, said the test had been quite satisfaot'ory. A cahh- message had 1 ■just hcen> received from the Agent-Ge-neral in London stating that the experiimental shipment of butter in the patent lined- boxes which had "been sent hu the eteaimier "Wakool had "carried well, and th<- exn>erimonlt was' regarded as successful."
