'At the monthly meeting of-the 06utii!;il of the .Nelson Acclimatisation Society last ■evening, the death of the imported stud «tag at the Society's deer park, 'Todd's Bush, was reported. It was decided to malts an inquiry into the probable cause of death, and to replace the animal by a young .stag of the. hay tine strain, u> be procured from the Otago herd. Some months ago the Society, through the High Commissioner, imported three stags of the bay tine strain, and they did well at the park. Two were released th e other day, and the third was retained for stud purposes. A few days after the hitter's companions had been taken away, however, the animal died, either from injuries oi- through fretting. The stag was not left solitary, as Care had been taken to place a doe .with it before its brothers were taken away.

The nineteenth annual show in connection with the Nelson Agricultural and Pa?toral Association will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 21st and 22nd November.
