At a large and representative public meeting last night, the Mayor presiding, a strong protest was entered against the recommendation of the Racing Club to abolish the Westport Jockey Club's racing privileges. The Borough Council •to-night endorsed the action of the protesting parties. t ONE CLUB SATISFIED. NEW RACECOURSE FOR TE KUITI. TE KUITI, Thursday, The Te Kuiti R.C. held a. special general meeting last -night, in consequence of the grant of the totalisator permit under the recommendations of the Racing Commission, a.nd decided to make immediate arrangements for a loan not vto exceed £ISOO, to purchase a course, to be ready for the next race meeting.
