THEATRE ROYAL. HAYWAKD'S PICTURES. Large audiences were present at the Theatre on Saturday, and the new programme met with decided approval. A -very interesting and novel picture was the one introducing MdJlc Hippolita D'llellas in her silhouette dances, which have been tbo rager of both Paris and London. "The Nine of Diamonds" proved to be a startling stoiy acted with realism by the Vitagraph Company. The views of Cintra, in Portugal, quite .justified the claim of the town tr> b2 the most beautiful in that coun'rv. It, was here that the revolutionr ists converted' the royal palace into a hospital. "Early Settlers" was one of the best of its class shown for quite a while, and portrayed stirring a<l\entures with Indians and a sensational rescue by a military post. "A Russia-n Romance" was a drama of the sensational order, and revealed the mysterious working of Russian political life. The comics are of fi most bois 'erous description, and include "A Tailor's Queer Advertisement," "Bill as a Jockey," and "Tontolini and a Rival in Love." The orchestra] music was excellent. The programme will be repeated this evening.

SCHOOL OPv-Vl USIC. FULLERS' PICTURES. \ Very large audiences visited the School of Music on Saturhay, and the new ser.ies was received with marked favour. presented in "The Message of an Arrow,'' and the applause was well sustained. The \itagraph Company made another great impression with "Jean and the Waif,'' and this picture made quite a liit. The scenics were as usual a special feature of the programme, and ''Egypt from Sumise to Sunset'' was beautiful and' interesting. Other pleasing travel pictures were "Hiva and its Lake," and "Picturesque Sardinia," "Basket Making by Indians" was a clever and instructive picture. The comedies were screamers, and the Vitagraph Company were in the thick of it with ''Three Men and a Maid,'' a real hummer. Other amusing and cleverly got up pictures were "A Chanticleer Hat" and "The Wonderful Pills." The programme wilJ be repeated this evening and the orchestral music will again be a feature of the entertainmnt. Messrs Fuller hate now completed their arrangements for artificially heating the School of Music, and the benefit of the innovation will be felt during the present mid-winter evenings.

IRISH CAlvES.—Take half a pound of flour, two and l a half ounces of butter,, a quarter of a pound of sugar, three eggs, a small cupful of milk, two teaspoonfuls of baking powder. Turn out. and when cool, split and put half of the following mixture between, and half on top :—A quarter of a pound of grated chocolate, a quarter of a pound of icing sugar, whites c-f two eg.gs, a little vanilla essence. Rub the sugar through a sieve, put into a ba-sin with tho chocolate, then add the whites weU beaten, and the flavouring. .
