THE MALTAI LODGE
: • ; HALF-YEARLY SUMMONED i- ■' MEETING. The half-yearly financial summon, ed meeting of tlie Maitai Lodge, \ U.A.0.D., was held in the Lodge .Kjom, Col'lingwood-street, oa .Monday evening, when there wa s a good attendance of members, including a number of past officers of the Lodge. ' A.D. Bro. A.B. Taylor occupied the chair. In 'addition to the usual routine business, .the auditors' report and: haif-yeaily balance-sheet was, read, and after N discussion wa s un-' 'auimous'ly adopted. The following were the balances of the various fund's"as show n ctfi the printed balance sheet: Management fund, £346 4s lid; sick and funeral fund, £3443 10s 2d; benevolent fund, £1 Ps Od; spe.eia] death levy Od; hall fund', £231 Ss Od; making, a total of £4043 13 3 Id. During the half-year the sum of £l4O was paid out for funeral donations, and £7.2 15s 4d was disbursed as sick pay, the latter amount being more than covered by the interest carried on investments. The election of officers for the ensuing six months resulted as follows: J.P.A., Bro. E. A. Tavlor; A.D., Bro. . D. 'Cruc-hek; V.A.. Bro. W. S. Mil-, r;er; A. Bards, " Bros. 11. Stephenspn Jind Culleri; Secretary, Bro. W. F. Thomson . Treasurer, Bro. F. I?. Sinclair; V.A. Bards. Bros.. Trott and McLaehlan; T.G., Bro. J. Hollj'man; 0.0., Bro. C. .Stewart; Minute Secretary, Bro. E. J. Chappell; Musical Director, Bro. T. Norcross. These iofficers were duly installed by D.l'. F;ro..W. Brav. assisted b}' P.D.P. Bro. V. Haggett; "P.D.P. Bro. J. Simuson; h-ad P.A. Bro,. W. Trott.
A very hearty vote of thank s was accorded D.P. Bro. Bray for his attendance and for the very able manrev in which his duties as installing officer had been carried out. Deep sympathy was expressed with P.D.P. Bro. S. Jickell, a former member, and one of the founders of the Lodge, in the sad loss experienced by him through the death of the late Mr s Jickell. and it wa » resolved that a letter of condolence be forwarded to him from the Lodge. Correspondence was read with re-
ferenee to the formation of a branch of the in Muvehison, and very encouraging reports were received from the brethren who have the matter in hand, and it is expected that by Saturday next sufficient piogress will have been made to warrant :l charter being applied for. It is expected lhat a number of officers of the various ' lodges in the. district will assist at the opening of 'the "Mmchison Lodge." Final airangemeuts were made to have t ne Lodge suitably represented at the parade and torchlight procession on Coronation night. At the conclusion of the business of the lodge an adjournment was made for harmony, and a numh.'r of musical item.? were contributed by those present, a very profitable evening being thus brought to a close.
