CONCERT, SO'CTAL, AND DANCE. T-he concert, social, and dance' under the auspices of the new . parish football! elwb (Leaigate>), winch* was lreldi at St Mary 's' Hall last evening, was a great suC'cess, there being a very large* attendance. An excellent concert xirogram>me was -aontribute'di to by Miss Morencc Gardiner, who in response to an encore sank Tosti's 1 "Good-Bye," wit'.b march expression.; Ward's violin solo was so' pleasing that the performer had to rttspond' to a recall, Mrs G. Kirton pla/yhig the pianoforte aeoompaniinenti; tire songs "by Messt's E. Richards, T. Conde.ll, G. Kirton, A. Gaseoigne, and Doyle were' listened to with g'i-eat pleasure, the performers being loudly applauded. An amusrng recitation, "The Quack Doctor^ 1 -' by Mr F. Hurley caused much laughter, and; Mr Doyle \s< -re'citation, "Life is but. a Game of Cards," was rendered m-ost eiffectiveily, 'the performer being recalled. The Rev. Father Goggau thanked- the audience for its patronage and the- .performers who had so well ass'is'tcVl in -making- the concert a saic«ess, aird gave a few kin.dly word* of ad'vice to the young men. Refreshments were in profusion, and the thanks- of the club are due< to the young ladli.es untiring efforts helped to make tthe function so-suecfM-sful. Oi/YMPIA RINK. There, was a large attendancei at the Rink last eveniug, and bhe new pastime has caught on. This morning was devoted lio the- children. This afternoon and evening the" band will be in attendance. Preparations are proceeding for the fancy dresis carnival to be held next week. CONCERT. AT RICHMOND. A smecc'SstfuL benefit concert organised by Mrs May in aid' of a worthy settler -vvho was. recently burnt out, was given at Richmond last evening. There was a crowded aittend--ance, and all the numbers were, well reeeive/d. Thos>e' Wfho • took part: were Mrs Will May, -Misse,s. Armstrong andi Richards, Messrs' Foster and Houlker. The two last isang a duet, and a" ouartete was rendered, by Mrs May," Mrs' W. H. May. and Messrs- Pepp-in and A. E. Maa-tin— The proceeds of the concert anuoumbed to £3O 18s Od, a/nd private donations to £5 6s; total £36 % Od.
