Concern is expressed by the public and oner chants of the to\v.ii owing -to the refusal of the Colonial Sugar Company to allow amv bonus on, direct purchases unless £soo' worth or over, as it is considered that this must prove detirimentol to working men, who allege that the Sugar Company is arranging with a New Zealand syndicate in the direction, ci keeping up the price of sugar. The Gerymouth Chamber of Commerce has taken the matter in hand to be laid before Parliament.
