Up to the present (states the "Pr-ess") it has not been definitely decided whether the Union Company's training ship Dartford will be docked at Lyttelton or go to Port Chalmers to undergo her survey. The vessel has still a quantity of coal to discharge, and will shortly take in ballast to stiffen her. It is rumoured that ,in view of the age and the small ness of the Dartford, the Union Steam Ship • Company has. under consideration the question of purchasing a large fou:> nmster sailing vessel, with a carrying capacity of about 3500 tons, to be employed as a training ship.

The printing of the electoral rolls in the districts for which they are compiled—a course which Cabinet decided upon recently—is' practically a necessity, says the "Dominion.'-' It would have been almost impossible for the Government Printing Office to have done the work this year owing to the circumstances under which it would have to be produced. As a matter of fact it will be September before the Representation Commission has completed its work, and objections have been heard, and it may be calculated that the printing of the rolls cannot be proceeded with' until well on in October. Parliament will then be sitting, and the task imposed upon, the printing office with this work would render it almost impossible to turn out the rolls for the whole Dominion in time for the general election in November.
