(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' HOT FINE WEATHER. MURCHISON, Wednesday. We are having a long-spell of fine summer weather here, the last fev.days having been, not indeed, the iglass registering 108. The weather; has been very favourable to the large number of tourists ,that have come and gone from here by Newman's Royal Mail Coach, their lcrge ccaches having been up with passengers for some weeks past. SUDDEN DEATH;. The friend s of Mr Richard Linwocd Norr:s, of Warwick Junction. South Maruia. will be grieved to learn U'at his beloved wife, Edith Ann Norriss. died suddenly at h'er home . on Thursday mo'rning, the 19th inst., aged 39 years. The cause of death was degeneration of the heart. The deceased ha s left a family of sev n children, th'e youngest being only three month s old. Just previous to the funeral th? Rev. F. B. Lawrence conducted a short impressive service at the store of Mr Ernest Norris, there being about 80 persons present. The deceased was interred in "the new cemetery at Warwick Junction on Saturday the 21st inst, this being the first funeral in the new cemetery. Great sympathy is felt here for Mr Norriss and the children in their sad bereavement. CONCERT.' The great interest taken in the erection of the proposed new ward for children at the Nelson Hospita.' has extended to Murchison. After the f.hildren's collection had been taken for the new ward, Mr S. T. Fairhall

interested himself in the matter, and got up a public, concert in aid of the funds. The concert was held in pow In.ie,? 1 n.ie,?s.Ball. evening, the 21st, Mr .J. -Bredbury presiding-. Tirere was a fairly large audience. fc!aeh item of the programme was well rendered by the friend s and was very nvueh appreciated by the large audience.
