Capetown, Reuter states that the vessel's cargo included 300 tons of dynamite, which was to have been removed at the end of the week to a hulk in the Bay. Before the stranding a fire broke out on the Aotea at 11.10 on Sunday night, abaft the funnel, and spread to the galley and deck house. Tugs from the •docks extinguished it after it had been burning for ninety minutes. (Received Jan. 24, 10.50 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Monday. In all, 350 tons of dynamite were removed from the Aotea, and the fire was extinguished at midnight.
