The Persian Government is sending IGOO troops to the South Western province of Fars to secure the ti-:de routes.
The Persian note to Britain states
that tranquility had been restored, and hopes that Britain will acquiesce to a 10 per cent increase in the customs duties on th e Persian Gulf. ATTITUDE OF FRANCE.

The rumours that the proposed cession of British Gambia to a foreign Power is traceable to French hints that sho would modify her attitude with regard to the Persian Gulf trade with Muscat, are denied.
