THE ZAMBESI RACE
A QUESTION OF EXPENSES
AN ENGLISH - COMPLAINT ANSWERED. t?RES3 Association. —Copxrioht. SYDNEY, Thursday. Files of the London "Sportsman" to .hand contain some sweeping statements by Mr Guy N'iclcalls regarding Arnst demanding £4OO instead of £3OO for expenses for the Zambesi race Mr Nickalls •declared that Arnst threatened to throw up the race unless his demand was conceded. He was placed in a difficult position, and ended by giving Arnst his persona] cheque for £IOO. Owing to Arnst's action there was likely to be a deific'it of £SO, which the guarantors would have to make good. Arnst and Floyd, interviewed, denied a number of Mr Nicleall's statements. Arnst said. "They cannot take their -beating like sportsmen.'' The reason he demanded the extra £IOO was that he thought he was to get a share of the gate money and the sole right of the moving .pictures, but he got nothing out of the gate, and had to share the picture money with Barry. " He was also charged lor accommodation, though he understood they were to be the guests of tlve Chartered Company.
