ANNUAL, 'MEETING • 7,

The annual .meeting of members of the Nelson Poultry, Pigeon, anil Canary Association was held at Mereer' s Room last evening-, and was fairly well attended. Mr Wallace Snodgrass (the President) occupied the chair. The Secretary (Mr F. Gibbons) snbmi-tted the annual report. Tie congratulated members on the results of the past year, which had been Hie most -successful, financially, since 1905. True fh-ere was a fafling off in the Poulary section; but in this respect Nelson was not an exception, as- practically every society in the Dominion had to face a falling o.ff.in entries in the Poultry section, Froir. all other standpoints the show was •' decided success. One great improvement was the dispensing with double tiers, thus enabling visitors to the sh-ow to see the exhibits to much better advantage, there being an equal distribution • of light ito all the pens. A portion of the judging at the last show was entrusted to local judges, and the innovation fully demonstrated that we hav ■ fanciers who ar e fully qualified to carry out the important duty of making awards. The fli-anks of the members are due to Messrs A. Frost, E. B. Martin and J. Hockey for their services as judges. The annual dinner in connection with the show was lveld in the Trocadero. The occasion was marked by a presentation to our Hon. Treasurer, Mr J. A. Stringer, who has been the mainstay of the Association for the last six years, and whose sterling value only the officers can fully appreciate.. The usual art (anion was held in connection with the slvow; but it is in be regretted that there was a falling off in the sale of tickets to the extent of £4O compared with the previous year. Special thanks are due to Messrs Boundy and Edgar for their services as secretaries to the art union. There was a clear profit on this year's working of £lB 18s 9d; £5 h'as to be added from uncollected accounts, and' if the £5 4s- 6d cost of competing for -the Challenge Shield at Granity was deducted, the profit for the year would be nearly £3O. 'This "lust Be considered extremely satisfactory. The work in pr expenses in connection with the show were curtailed, and thanks ar e due to Messrs Sogers, Savage and Stringer.
