THE NEW REGIME. SOME INNOVATIONS. A CENSURE MOTION. SYDNEY, Wednes. In the Legislative Assembly Mr Cann, the Speaker, dispensed with the Speaker's official robes and a number of other small innovations in regard to formalities marked the commencement of the Labour rule. The Governor's Speech promised a brief session. It referred to the continuance of prosperous seasons and the buoyancy of the revenue. Finance would be arranged to meet the serious diminution of revenue from the Commonwealth, which the State would shortly have to face. In future accounts would be prepared showing the receipts and expenditure of public business and undertakings. and the sale of public assets separate from the ordinary accounts for general government services. The Council adopted the Address-in-Reply. In the Assembly Mr. Lee moved an amendment regretting the. conduct of the Government in connection with the administration of public lands, in ret using the people th e right to acquire in future the freehold of such lands for settlement purposes, as inimical to the best interests of the State. After some warm discussion tho debate was adjourned till to-morrow. TROUBLES OF CAUCUS GOVERNMENT. RELEASE OF AN IMPRISONED RIOTER DEMANDED. COERCION FROM BROKEN HILL, (Received 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Thursday. The Broken Hill Miners' Association strongly attacks the Labour Government over the refusal to release Stokes, one of tbe rioters in the Broken Hill riots.
