"The. Times" states that if as a result of the Veto Conference the party leaders can jointly recommend the " use of Commons to accept proposals for a compromise, it is probable the support they would receive would outweigh the casting vote of the Irish members, with whom the Labour party
may act . The "Chronicle" hints that Mr Asquith is anxious to submit to a Cabinet Ceuneil to-morrow a tentative proposal for a settlement by consent, after which lie would bo enabled to take a decisive line in the Conference.
