ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. T.he New Zealand Federated BuHoars' and Contractors' Association met to-day. Mr S. Clarke presiding. The annual report congratulated Hie delegates and affiliated associations upon - satisfactory sertlement 'of general conditions of contract, and also o-n securing a substamti-al reliction in rates for accident insurn::ee. A resolution was passed asking "the Government t-o make provision that -f;e Public Works Department tenders be opened in -the -presence of "the tenderers, so that unsuccessful ■tenderers. .may liavc their deposits returned immediately, tlve loaal engineer to be given a margin of per een;t. and to 'have the rigbt : to retain itvro of the lowest tenders un til t*he contract is signed.
