HOW MANY MORE?

NUMEROUS MEASURES IN THE HOUSE. (By Telegraph.) (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) When three bills (Old Age Pensions, Loans, and Libel) came down bv Governor's .Message last night My. Massey suggested an adjournment till after the Christmas holidays. If Parliament was on wi'th all theS|o bills there would be enough to last another six months. Members should have a sufficient opportunity to consider the Bills that were already on the order paper before others were introduced.

The Pime Minister replied that he was sure that the Leader of the Opposition was in a facetious mood.

Mr. Massey: How many more bills? Sir J. Ward : Not many more. I think it is only right- to say that. (Laughter). The Loan Bill contains only two clauses. Mr. Massey: The Libel Bill is a- big thing. Sir J- Ward : It is quite necessary to have a Libel Bill." He added that the Old Age Pensions Bill merely gave effect to what he had asked the House to legisate upon this session, and members generally were in agreement about the amendment. The House would see that the L-ibel Bill was a sensible ohe.

'Mr. Massey : We have had it before. Sir J. Ward: "Not this one." He r«r pea-ted his declaration of last week that were only three bills on the order paper on which there could be any serious difference of opinion. He would suggest to Mr. Massey that he should not try to cross bridges before he got to the river.. The House should go on with its work, and if the tasks were not finished in reasonable time by all means let the House adjourn till after Christmas, and then come back ana have a good time.
