RECENT DEATH ON A FOOTBALL

FIELD

NAPIER, Monday. At the inquest to-day on the body of Sidney Samuel Charlton, injured at a football match on Saturday, the medical evidence showed he was. suffering irom acute dilation of the hea-it, and a hill he sustained would have a fatal eheet. Xo marks of external violence were on the bodv. The Coroner returned a verdict according to the medical evidence.

SHOCKING ACCIDENT

DUNEDIN. Monday

A verv serious accident occurred on the barque Ganymede at Port Chahners thi.s afternoon, "the victim being a. man named William Olemouts. who was severely scalded. Ow.ing to th<j valve i„ the donkey-engine blowing out Clements was scalded bv the steam from head to foot. The unfortunate man moped his wav to a- small aperture and escaped to the'dock. The .skin on hie-face. legs, feet, ohest. and arms was badly scalded, and was hanging down in places. He was removed to the Hospital, where he is progressing as well as tain, be expected. Clements belongs to "Wellington, where he has a wife and four children, to whom he intended returning tlw's week.

Selby Carson, who had his right hand torn off and his right lon very seriously ciushed. as the result of an accident at Irvine's .saw mill at Turangarere on Friday, died at Wangaiiui to-night.
