Mr Roosevelt, at a conference at oyster Bay. resented the Republicans' action in. rejecting his candidature for the chairmanship of the New York Convention. Not wishing to cause ut. rupture with the Taft administration, he says he will not attend the State Convention, nor participate in the State campaign, nor accept nomination for the Governorship, nor enter the Senate. It is understood that Mr Roosevelt will defer further effort until the Presidential election campaign. If the party then rejects his politics, Mr Roosevelt will contest the Presidency.
