AN APPRECIATION. (By One Who Knew Her.) There passed away at-the Hospital o:i Thursday morning a. very old resident Misis 1L A. Rainm. She must, have been living in Nelson at least 42 years. She will lie remembered by a great many people as a,s.-iistant in Mr. Jesse Hounsell's olil stationer' and afterwards as the propriet.re.s< <d a -.similar b.it smaller business i.p IpM-dy-street. In later y<;ars she had been living in retirement. Of a. deeoly ndigious nature, fhe wis f.-n-e of the' pillars of the olrl Bapfi.-t Church at a time when the ron.grega.t:< ut had become reduced to very small numbers. Naturally of a retiring disposition, her ciiroLe of frie.ndis wais not a very large olio, but rfho w.rns deeply loved by aIL those who knew her intimately. aiid her quiet acts of kindness were innu.nieraible. She was greatly res.pe.rted bv all lier friends for the strict uprightness of her life and the true goodness of an English woman. Although latterly she has boe.-* a roiisidern-ble sufferer, her death will be deeply felt by her inany friends.
