In the Federal House of Representatives Mr. Bam ford obtained leave to introduce a Bill providing for a referendum on the question of amendiing the constitution, to reconstruct the States to eliminate State boundaries, to abolish State Governments, aind substitute a uniform system of government throughout the Commonwealth, and to divideAirstraJia into .provinces, each with a parliament consisting of one House with such powers as shall be conferred by the Federal Parliament. Although, leave was granted, members briefly announced their intention of opposing the Bill later.
