DEPOSITS BY PARLIAMENTARY ' CANDIDATES. ABOLITION AGREED TO. WEIGHTS AND MEASURES. (Received 8.50 a.m) MELBOURNE. Friday. The Senate lias decided in favour of abolishing the monetary deposit required from Parliamentary candidates. ■ The House of Representatives has decided to appoint a select committee to inquire into Tasmania's claims for a special grant from the Minister of Customs. If the States do not bring the Weights and Measures Acts into conformity with the Board of Trade standard the. Commonwealth will act.
