It is alleged that they sold forged paintings to Mrs Paine, an American lady living in Paris, including pictures described as works of Murillo, Correggio, Titian, and Corot, the four costing £IO,OOO. It is alleged that Mrs Paine had entrusted the Count with the task of .making a large collection, but experts declare that they are all forgeries.
