DEFENCE.
TRAINING OF TERRITORIALS. [United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Friday. A district order has just been issued and contains the following important statement regarding the training of the territorial forces : (a) For the present the territorial force of the district will train by corps, viz., regiments or battalions, and where not able to train by corps, then by units, viz.. squadrons or companies. (b) The allowances will be as follows while in the training camps: Rations per man per day, 2s for horse per day; 2s 6d pay for each day spent in camp. All raiiks will be granted the following personal allowances: Lieut.-Colonels 15s, majors 12s, captains 10s, lieutenants and second lieutenatns Bs, sergt.-majors and tatf sergeants ss, sergeants 4s. corporals is 6d. other ranks 3s. These rates of payment only apply when oiHcers and men remain continuously in camp for seven days (day and night), and should this net be carried out, then only rations and forage will be allowed.
