PETTIT'S CANDIDATURE. ■' Another successful meeting of Mr. Pettit'g committee for the Mayoral election was held at the Rooms, Hardyetreet, last evening, when further encouraging reports were received. The work on the roll is proceeding satisfactorily, and the secretary reported that he had secured the public schools at Brook and Hampden-streets for meetings. Satisfaction was expressed by the members of the Committee with the excellent way the candidate handled his flubject at the Theatre on the previous evening, and his references to the increase of the overdraft were considered Very timely, seeing that it had been promised that a reduction would havp wen secured. The candidate announced ihat he had booked the Theatre for the evening before polling day, and the- exe. cutive intimatea that all other necessary arrangements had been made. — Communicated. . Mr. Pettit will speak at the Brook qnd Hanupden-street schools on Monday and Wednesday respectively, and at the Port on the open space between th<TJnion Company's office and the Post Office on Thursday evening, at 8 o'clock, for the convenience of Port residents.
