FIRE AT WANGANUI
THE STRAND CAFE GUTTED

A lire broke out to-nighl in the premises in Ridgway-slreet, occupied by Dusting and known as the Strand Cafe, Limited The building was gutted and its contents were destroyed. Owing to .Mr. Dustin's absence from town the exact insurances are not available, but it is thought the stock was insured for £3OO in the London and Lancashire office, and the building was jjlsu insured for £3OO. The adjoining premises escaped injury, save that Mr. Gatfney, jeweller, had his stock injured by water.
GREAT FIRE IN BURMAH
MANDALAY BUSINESS QUARTER
DEVASTATED
(Received April 15, 11.40 a.m.) MANDALAY, Thursday. A fire at Maudalay (Ijurmah) destroyed a long stretch of business places and dwelling houses. The damage is estimated at 1.200.000 runees.

(Received April 15. 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday
The fire in the s.s. Telamnn at Perim has been extinguished. Th* cargo in the lower hold is being discharged with the utmost rapidity, and it is condemned as worthless. The wool cargo in the hold between-decks has been discharged, and is drying ashore.
