WAKEFIELD.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PETE

The Sunday School Fete and Children's Carnival, held at Wakefield :m Easter Monday, were very successful. There was a large gathering of coim-ii-v people, and amongst those from town were Messrs A. T. Maginnitv (Chairman of the Education Board), ut. A. Darkness (the Chief Inspectot). and P. Harris (the last-named wHh a large box of toys and a purse full ol small coins for the juveniles. ' The costume'procession was the first ovont of importance, and the prizes in this were won as follows:—Adults. I-:. Hodgson and Miss Bird, "Darby mi.} Joan"; C-. Johnson, "Chiuosc ■Prince," 2; H. J. Harris, clown, 3; W. Longfon, '''Dummy," 4. Middle section: Miss L. Peart, "K Jam,'' I: .Miss R- Hodgson, '"Tambour.'ne Girl." 2; Ralph Hodgson, "King Carnival," and Miss H. Harris, "Spanish Dancing Girl," equal, 3. Junior section: Hazel. Bird, "Topsy," 1; Leslie Hodgson, "Santa Clans." 2; Elsie Harris, "Maori," 3. Others characters well represented were:— "S.ins of the Set." "Good Luck." "Granl Duk"." "Fish Wife," "Old Woman in a Shoe." "Housemaid." "Duke 6'.' Wakefield."

A programme of athletic events and amusing races and contests was proceeded with. The net Tace (won by W. Longton), and the poultry race (won by A. Johnson) were interesting and exciting events. S. Tidd wa<, the winner of the greasy pig. The aommittee in charge of the proceedings are pleased with the result of their efforts, and they wish tn thank all who contributed or assisted The financial results, which were entirely satisfactory, will be devoted to building a new. infants' room ?U St. John's Sunday School, Wakefield. TVn Wakefield Brass Band discoursed pleasant music, and gave their services frer- of charge. A capable commitl'V of ladies provided excellent refreshments throughout the day.
