ROYAL STANDARD PICTURES

The last of a good programme was displayed last night to a well-filled house. To-night a new bill containing many attractions, is announced. The star film undoubtely will be "Napoleon," and the historical pictures depicting many incidents in the life of the famous Corsican will be of great interest to all. "Orowanda" has an Indian flavour about it, and is a picture of early colonial life in America. The story of "The Little Princes in the Tower" is an historical event familiar to old and young. Scenic, industrial, and irresistible comics help to make up a splendid programme. Mr Petherick, the- enterprising manager of the Royal Standard Pictures, has engaged Mr 'Edward R.A.M., who holds a record for 'continuous pianoforte playing of sixty hours 30 minutes. Mr Travis is accompanied by his trainer, Mr G. Armer, and it will thus be seen that Mr J. E. Petherick spares no expense in putting attractions before his audiences. Mr Travis was a pupil of the late M. Auguste Weigand. who for some years was organist at the Sydney Town Hall. On March 31st, at the Druids' Hall, Mr Travis will commence his attempt to break the world's record for continuous playing. The music played will be suitable to all tastes, and all fond of music should not miss the opportunity of hearing some good music under novel conditions.

SPENCER'S THEATROSCOPE COMPANY. SHACKLETOX'S'DASH FOR THE POLE. On Friday night, at the Theatre Royal. Spencer's Theatroscope Company if announced to commence a picture season. Included in the programme will be a series of films calculated to arouse interest, namely those relating to the recent Antarctic expedition carried out under the direction of Sir Ernest Shack!eton. It is promised that all the features of the enterprise will be dealt with, and the different branch expeditions, including 'the final dash for the South Pole, will find pictorial representation. It is claimed that these are the nicturcs which were specially exhibited bv Sir Ernest Shackle!on before King Edward. Queen Alexandra, and thr Prince and Princess of Wales. In addition the company intends to show one of its own productions!, entitled "Wintei Sports at Mount Kosciusko." and othe) subjects of an interesting and liumorouf nature, and also one of the penguin? hi'oudit back bv the Shackleton party. THE CATHOLIC CARNIVAL.

The arrangements for the CatholiiCarnival Fancv Fair and Bazaar, which open on Easter Monday night, are almost completed. Signor Borzom, whose capabilities as a teacher of dancing and spectacular displays are well-known, if an Italian, being born in Genoa, a province of Liguria, some 59 years ago. At a very early age he showed a marked predilection for dancing, and was sent t 0 the leading Italian conservatorium t<: studv. At seven years of age he war starred in Milan as an accomplished dancer, and at 16 he became the premier dancer—the youngest premier tt come from the Conservatorium. When 19 he reached the enviable position of composer of dances, in which he was also'the youngest in Italy.
