In directing the jury to discharge Dr Carlo Fiaschi_and Nurse Young, charged with the manslaughter of the girl Nightingale at Lithgow on January 10th, the judge sai dthat in view of the second examination, which had discovered the supposed missing organ, the Crown case utterly failed. Evidently a mistake had been made.

The jury added to the verdict of not guilty a rider to the effect that there was no evidence that the operation was unskilfully performed by Dr Fiaschi.
