Mr. Haldane, Secretary for War, speaking at the Institute of Civil Engineers, said that the Weir Office was preparing to create a reserve- of skilled telegraphists and motor cyclists among men employed in the railway works of the country, who, it is calculated, would form a potent force in the schem e of home defence.
