CONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAY ENGINES.

IMPORTANT PROPOSALS.. (United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The Government has accepted tho tender of Scott Bros., Christchureh,' for the construction of ten fourcylinder balanced railway engines, class O. This is part of the const»uetion policy inaugurated to meet increasing requirements of the railway business. The cost of the engines will' probably exceed £40,000. Ten class B engines will be put in hand in tho Government shops at Addington, in addition to a similar numlber of side tank engines of .the N.F. class for suburban work. The Department also intends to build 600 Ii 'waggons of the eight-wheeled \>ogey type.
