MOTOR DRIVING..
10. THE EDITOR. Sir, — In spite of the many and often various accidents through careless motor driving 1 , it does not seem to check this carelessness or recknessness •of many of the motor-managers. On Monday last, when rising up the district, and getting in; a bond of the road where it is impossible to see what is ahead either for the up or down traveller, there suddenly appeared ft motor, -which gave no warning of its near approach ; and it was only a matter of a, dozen feet or so between a serious smash up for either one or both parties and the narrow escape. ! n a sudden collision of this kind -one itmnot <-ikfe' partiiicular laofcilbe- of* this occupants of the. vehicles— only so far as to notice several ladies as well- as the male driver. It is to be hppedv that this very narrow escape from a Eerions ; accident will be a warning to" this geaUeman and othersv .'.....•. If I mistake not, rthe Waimea County Council intends to spend a few hundreds to widen the most dangerous partis of that very narrow highway on the Wa. kapuaka Road. There are — as is too well, known — many sudden curves on this road; and erf the most dangerous points is what is known as Cotton's Point. At this place many narrow escapes fronv danger have been recorded; Sonic time :back a motor ran into_a. team, of heavy cart horses, and there^— all is well that ends. well. But I was. astonished to see how quickly the motor can be suddenly' stopped if required. ■■ ■- -: *•■ ■ '.v."
