In the House of Representatives Mr ' Kelly moved a resolution in favour of the immediate establishment of wireless telegrap'hic stations round the coasts, and that merchant vessels be equiped with wir-less installations as an up-to-dato means, firstly of giving intelligence of the appearance in Australian waters of any hostile force ; and, secondly, of saving life and property imperilled by accidents at sea. e He suggested one station on the East coast, with a viow of establishing communication with New Zealand. The Postmaster-General states > that he would havo pleasure in suporting' the : proposal. He hoped that with the | £10,000 now on the Estimates for wireless telegraphy purposes, at least two stations would bo equipped, one in Sydney and the other at Fremantle. Whilo defence would be tho main consideration he hoped to make the system a commercial success. The motion was adopted on the voices. _^_____
