The Marine Department states that the demand for rock oysters, which was so great at the beginning of the season- that orders could not be filled quickly enough, has fallen off to such an extent that some of the pickers have had to be" discharged. The season closes at the end of next month. WANGANUI, Friday. A meeting of tho Management Committee of the Wanganui, Napier, Taranaki, and Manawatu Railway Employees' Sick Benefit Society considered the proposal of the Executive Council of the Amalgamated Council of Railway Servants on the question of the establishment of a Dominion Sick and Benefit Society, and resolved to recommend that no change be made, as the present constitution and administration of the Society were satisfactory to the majority of members.
