(Pbess Association. — Copxmght.) SYDNEY, Monday. The long-standing dispute between the trustees of the Sydney cricket ground and the Cricket Association has 'been settled. The trust conceded the Association the' right to j one-third of the members' subserip- , tions, exceeding (£4200, and reduced | its charges on takings at inter-State and international mntches to 10 -per cent. NAPIER, Monday. The death occurred to-day, in his sixty-third year, of Mr Thomas Morrison, who was well known in journalistic circles. He was at one time a member of the proprietary of the "Hawkes Bay Herald," and at a later period did tho Parliamentary reporting for tho Press Association, and sessional correspondence for a number of papers. In tho early days of Napier Mr Morrison was an ardent volunteer, and did much to encourage rifle shooting. He was an enthusiastic bowler, and was greatly interested in musical matters. He alwnys took an active interest in the work of tho Anglican Church. WANGAXUI, Monday. At thu annual meeting of the Wnnganni Jockey Club, the balance-sheet showed a credit balanco of over £1300. Ho was fined £3, with costs 7s, and 24 hours' grace was allowed in which to pay the penalty. WESTPORT, Monday. ,; Mr Eawson, the Begistrar of the Supreme Court, this afternoon read Mr Justice Cooper's judgment in the , matter of the originating summons under tho Declaratory Judgments ! Act, challenging tho jurisdiction of the Buller Licensing Committee to jurisdicton to grant a license at this district. His Honor decided that the Committee had jurisdiction to grant a license within one mile p? Walters' old license, but had no : innrisdiet.ion to grant a license at either Mine Creek or Ngakawau. >
