THE PREMIER'S TRAINING PRO-. POSALS. A COMPULSORY SCHEME URGED. . [United Pmbs Association.] AUCKLAND, Thursday. A largely attended meeting was held to-night under the auspices of the National Defence League, and it carried the following resolution, proposed by Dr Hope Lewis : "That while congratulating the Government on its desire to introduce a national system of defenfive training as foreshadowed in the Prime Minister's speech of April 2, this meeting believes that nothing short of universal compulsory training of the youth of the country can prove effective."
