POVERTY BAY ASSIZES.
[United Pbess Association.] GISBORNE, Satyr-la.-. At the Supremo Court, Gisooroe, to-day before Mr Justice Edwards, James Garrotty was found gu'li-- jf theft from the person on the steamor Manuka in April, 1908. This was his third trial, and sentence was deferred until to-day. William James Wright, on a charge of alleged arson at Tolago Bay, was discharged witlniit the defence being called on.
Monday. At the Supreme Court John James Isaac Todd, for theft of £13 from one Cooper at a hotel, was sentjncod to twelve months' imprisonment.
