I could not think of eating a Turnip that grew more than eight hours a day. It would choke me. Were all the Turnips permitted to grow that wanted to do so?" "Why. of course," replied the Turnip. "Why not!" "Oh! nothing," said the Mooley Cow, "only we've got to stop this open-shop business. What's the matter with you now?" she demanded of the Hen that sat up on the manger and gave a loud cackle. ' ' I have just laid another egg, ' said the Hen gleefully, looking down at the white sphere in the manger. "That's the second one to-day." The Mooley Cow was indeed angry. "You ought to be disciplined," sbo observed WTathfully. "Here are eggs going begging at eighteenpence a dozen and you laying two eggs a day. Have you read the rules on the inside of the barn door there?" The Hen admitted she had not. "Well go over and read them," ordered the Mooley Cow severe) v. "They may enlighten you."
