XTPPBK MOTJTERB. ROAD BOARD, (from Our Own Correspondent. ) The monthly meeting of the Upper Mjoutffrc Road Board was helld on Saturday. Present : Messrs A. Bensemnnn, i). Bensemann, G. Bensemann, Drogeniuller. Mr G. Bensemann was voted to the chair in- the absence of Mr Beuke. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and accounts were passed for £5 5s lOd Correspondence. — From the County Clerk, Nelson, notice of payment of an instalment of rate, also information amount of bird rats ; from the District Road Engineer, Nelson, returning specification for bridge work Gardner's Road duly approved; from Mr Tunniiitiffe, .notifying increase in amount of premium under Employers' Liability Act ; from Mr Stade, replying to Board's letter re opening road in Rosedale. For the bridge work on Gardner s Road one tender (F. Bensemann £52) was received, which was accepted. Resolutions passed.— That the County Council be again applied to for use of pile driver, C. Hewetson to be also notified ; that in reply to Mr Stade-'s letter, he be informed that persons using the road should apply if they wished it to be further opened ; that the Board meet to lay off work in Rising Sun Valley on February 6th, at 3 p.m. ; that the gravel be raked in on Beuke'? Hill ; that ;i box culvert be put in on Blackbird Vallpy Road; that Mr 0. Sixtus bo granted permission to widen th; 1 road by his property at Supplejack Vallfly. Mr* A. Sigifl«koiv '.wilted on the Board and explained that he had made a mistake in his tender for contract No. 2, Neudorf-Dovedale Road. After consideration it was resolved to allow him lls •ixtra, and to accept his tender for No. 1 at 8s a chain. At n- special meeting held after the ordinary meeting, it was resolved that in compliance with the Act, the day for closing of simps in the district for the statutory half-holiday should be Wednesday.
