AN ELECTION CHALLENGE
WANGANT'I, Wednes. It appears that before the first ba'iot Mr Remington, speaking ri- EaHbi-eok, made an attack upon Mr George li-t--clison. The latter on the follow-ng night made a charge against Mr Remington, alleging he had taken a reward for his efforts in obtaoiig v " removal of a restriction on a native title". Mr Remin'gton, -subs^u-Jitly speaking at Taih'ape, said "if. his committee was willing he (Mr Remington) was quite willing if Mr Hutchison put down £75 for the election expenses, to give him a chanco of seeing who stood best with the electors of Rangilik-i electorate." To-day Mr Hutchison wrote to Mr Remington accepting the challenge, and expressing his willingness to put down the £75 for the election expenses on him resigning the Rangitikei seat, also to contest the election with Mr Remington.
