SUDDEN DEATH OF A WITNESS.
HOKITIKA, Monday. John Pearce, a witness for the defence in the Westport perjury case died rather suddenly at the Cafe de Paris about 9.30 this morning. He had been ailing for some time, and the aoctoi was called in last night intending to remove the patient to the Hospital today, but when being dressed ho suddenly expired. It is said that he had been suffering from miner's complaint.
