Heavy rain fell previous to the match, but the yround was in fair condition. The came was a splendid one, and re- • j solved itself into a fight between the ! visitimr forwards and the local backs. < j In the first spell the local men had the advantage, but in the second the ! consistent footwork of Otago told a t.ile. and Taranaki was fortunate when the bell sounded, for in a few minutes ' Otaao would have scored again. Tho scorers for Taranaki were C. Sheean. Dive, and Hunter, one being converted. For Otago, Pater6on, Mci Donald s_nd Don obtained tries, but ' none were converted.
