Gymnastic Club, interpersed by musical selections^ songs, :tc. by local amateurs. t At the Druids' Hall last night the Nelson Hockey Association held a- sue- ; :p.ssful dance as a wind-up to the eea- , ;on. During a convenient interval Mr tf. R. Duncan, Presideat of the Asso'iation, presented the championship shields won in the men's and ladies^ competitions. In handing the ladies' shield to Miss Coster, who received it m behalf of the Wakatu Club, the President remarked on the splendid record of the winners, they having won all their matches, scoring 39 goals, md not having a score registered^ gainst them. Reference was also madej Ui the success achieved by the ladies' ( representative team in the recent tourna- , ment at Wellington. The men's shield" was accepted by Mr Le Mottee on behalf of the Motueka Club, the President vonaratulating the winners on retaining the shield for another season. Mr Le Mottee suitably replied. Cheers were then given for the recipients, and also for Mr Duncan. The Baptist "Pleasant Evening" will be eiven in the schoolroom to-morrow eveninc at 7.30 (not to-night as announced yesterday).
