BIRDS FOB COMPETITION.

In sending birds to a competition (says Mr Brown, of the Poultry Department, to a poultry writer down South) a number of breeders make the mistake of keeping their birds from laying by giving a low diet, and as soon as the birds get to the competition they are fed heavily to bring them on to lay, and this naturally causes tho birds to moult. Mr Brown advises breeders to feed as tho birds are fed in the competition, and send birds which aro not too old., but are just coming on to lay. When they get to the competition, and are fed in the same way, they are not thrown back, but come on to lay naturally, and get a good start.
