The Board, however, expressed the opinion that if Mr O'Rourke applied for the conversion of his pastoral license of 200 acres into renewable lease tho appli- ; cation would bo favourably considered. Sherlock's application for occupation license over part of section 54, block iv., Kawatiri, refused at July meeting. Mr J. Sherlock's application was re-heard, and it was resolved that seeing that Mr Dixon, owner of tho coal mining lease, concurred in Mr Sherlock's application, the Board approved it at a rental of 30s per annum. _.-,_, , An application from W. Resolved that 40 acres be granted subject to the approval of the Warden, rent five per cent on a capital value of 15s an acre. A letter from E. H. de Malmanche, asking to lease Workmen's Homes reserve, block iii, Kongahu district, 280 acres, was adjourned for report by the Crown Lands Ranger. Douey was admitted conditionally as tenant in common with T. Doney in common with T. Doney in I.i. p. over sections 1 and 2, blks v and ix, Matiri ' district. Respecting the application of Messrs Bowater and Bryan, for permission to acquire on lease for a sawmill site one acre of the unused Cemetery reserve fronting Adderley-street, Westport, it was resolved to ascertain from the Railwap Dpartment if the reserve in ques- j tion is required for railway workshops, i and in the even of the area applied for j not being required for such purpose to ' submit it for lease by public tender for a term not exceeding 10 years. W. J. Dennehy's application to obtain a bette rtitle to the land held by him under the occupation license in block iv, Waitakere, and to include a further area, was declined. Resolved to grant S. Pedderson tiirifes until June next in which to start im'-' provements on the land, Hope district. A letter was read from Mr A. A. Wilson, Westport, on behalf of miners resident at Millerton that the sections in , the township of Hector Extension be opened for selection. It was resolved to inform Mr Wilson that the Hector Extension is virtually a mining township, and that therefore the disposal of the lands included therein is not within the jurisdiction of the Land Board, but in that of the Warden, to whom application should be made with the view of offering the lease by public auction under the Mining Act for a term of 21 years. On letter from Messrs W, L. Jeffries and .J. Squires re improvements on o.r.p. sections 30 and 33, blk vi, and l.i.p. sec. 3, blk ii, Aorere district, it was resolved to inform th© writers that the application was premature until transfers have been effected. The application of Mr A. D. Bayfield, on behalf of Mr William Davis, to whom an occupation lease of sections 5 and 53, block 1, Kawatiri, was, by resolution, granted by the Land Board at the meeting held on the 13th ultimo conditionally on the 13th ultimo conditionally on the payment of tho value in royalty of the milling timber growing on the land, for permission to pay the royalty by instalments, was approved, and the resolution above referred to modified accordingly, the issue of the title to be deferred until the last instalment of the I royalty has been paid on a date to be fixe dby the Board. j The Board approved of the following amounts being paid : — To the Stoke Road Board "thirds," £3 13s 19d ; Buller County Council, "thirds," £8 17s 2d.
